Proud of my Soldiers

(Pandemic Diary - day 195)

From my notes: 9 September 2020 (Wednesday)

They were NOT “suckers”

I spent 30 years in the Army. In that time, I worked with and had the privilege of leading hundreds of Soldiers. They were the most diverse and most dedicated group of people I’ve ever been associated with, good men and women who volunteered, showed up, and did their duty regardless of the circumstances or consequence.

They weren’t all particularly clean or well-mannered, but they worked hard, they could shoot straight, and they showed up even when their bone spurs were sore.

They were a lot of things, Mr. Trump, but they most certainly were NOT suckers.
